On Saturday, June 15, Ricky Randle and Kelley Lewis of Columbia College Hollywood’s Career Development Department and several students participated in the Evolve Entertainment Fund, Summer 2019 kickoff event at LA Live. The event was hosted by several entertainment professionals, including actress Issa Rae and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.
Three Columbia College Hollywood students have been accepted into the Evolve Entertainment Fund program for Summer 2019.
Randle, Director of Career Development & Alumni Relations, hosted a presentation on networking in the entertainment industry.
The Evolve Entertainment Fund is a public-private partnership that aims to bridge the opportunity and skills gaps to build a stronger career pipeline in entertainment for disadvantaged youth, women, people of color, and the LGBTQ community.
The Evolve Entertainment Fund is partnering with leading Los Angeles studios, city departments, industry suppliers, directors, producers, actors, talent agencies, and nonprofits that are committed to increasing diversity and inclusion.
These partners engage with Evolve to provide paid internships, mentorships, and educational opportunities to low-income LA residents, ages 18-24, with the goal of securing job offers in the entertainment industry for each participant.
Evolve also provides mini-grants to nonprofit organizations working toward these goals and is launching a production gap financing component in 2019 to help underrepresented filmmakers and crews get their projects through the post-production phase to the finish line.

At CCH, we believe it is important to take a stand by demonstrating our willingness to promote and inspire systemic change. We must speak honestly and truthfully to the ugliness of racism that permeates throughout our society today. It may be an uncomfortable conversation for some, but it is an all-too familiar reality for anyone living in this country with black or brown skin. Hiding from it, ignoring it, or being silent about it will not make it go away.
