As a young filmmaker, it can be easy to get wrapped up in the creative process of filmmaking without giving any thought to the business side of things. For example, once you are finished with your piece, how do you get eyes on it? With social media it is easy to put your work out their, but you want to make sure the right people are seeing your creations. How can you showcase your work?
At CCH, we are proud to say we offer three festivals throughout the year to give our students plenty of opportunities to share their talents. Find out more about our festivals below.
Annual Film Festival
48 Hour Film Festival
3 Hour Screenwriting Challenge
The 3 Hour Screenwriting Challenge was created by a student at Columbia College Hollywood and takes place every Spring academic quarter. Students have just three hours to write a short script in our writing lab. The scripts are then given to an industry panel of jurors who determine three winners and 10 other scripts designated for honorable mention. At the ceremony and reception, CCH acting students perform the winning scripts, honoring the winners and participants.
External Film Festivals
Along with the festivals hosted by CCH, our Career Development Office keeps an updated calendar of both domestic and international Film Festivals. They also offer many strong resources to help you find the best festivals for your film submissions, get you entered, and get you noticed. So you don’t need to worry if you miss the on campus festivals, you can enter any number of festivals around the world.
