Keeping it Reel

CCH Makes a Presence at The Culver City Film Festival 2016!

Columbia College Hollywood is pleased to announce that two of our very own students, Garrett Schecher and Michael Gretzinger presented films at the 3rd Annual Culver City Film Festival last weekend. Garrett is a recent graduate of CCH and Michael is a currently enrolled at Columbia College Hollywood. Both have been very successful at CCH within their writing and directing projects.

The 3rd Annual Culver City Film Festival is running from December 3rd through December 10th. ArcLight Cinema in downtown Culver City is serving as the main screening venue, with films also being presented at the Mayme A. Clayton Library and Museum. The festival is screening features, shorts, documentaries, narrative films and much more!

Both films were showcased at the Mayme A. Clayton Library and Museum on Saturday, December 3rd. Garret’s film “Coming Down” is a comedic journey of three friends who partake in a little “fun-fungi” on their outdoor adventure. But as things start to change for the worse, they attempt to navigate their journey back and are faced with dangers, challenges and mysterious enemies. This comedic film was written, directed and stars Garrett and also served as his thesis film his senior year at CCH. It has been featured in several film festivals and is generating some great buzz.

Michael’s film, “Children’s Stories” is an awkward comedy about two author/illustrators that work for a publisher of young Children’s books. Ricky and Brad are two very different types of men. While Ricky retains his kid-at-heart charm, Brad is a self-inflated narcissist who has been out of the game for a few years. When pitch day rolls around, Brad’s subconscious chronicle of his recent life is not quite the kid friendly “Fairy Tale” they have been looking for.

The Culver City Film Festival prides itself on bringing together a diverse group of filmmakers together to share their work and to celebrate each other’s talents. This year’s festival is focusing on Southern California filmmakers and a great venue for independent cinema to get the needed exposure that can sometimes be lost in the saturated entertainment marketplace.

Columbia College Hollywood could not be more proud of our students showing at The Culver City Film Festival. CCH always encourages our students to take every opportunity to showcase their talent

This blog is a collaborative effort by CCH staff and administration who want to share their knowledge with the film school community and prospective students.
