Omar Rojas-Cruz is a 2019 graduate of Columbia College Hollywood. He is currently an Assistant Camera at Million Dollar Listing, a Bravo show that follows young real estate agents as they try to sell high-end properties in the Los Angeles area.
What’s your proudest accomplishment since graduation?
I’m most proud of setting up a bi-coastal work environment, meaning I have both possibilities of moving between New York and Los Angeles and continuing working without a problem.
What has been the greatest challenge you have encountered throughout your career, and how have you overcome it?
One of my greatest challenges was looking for industry jobs. But after a while I calmed down, contacted every person I knew to see if they had any upcoming projects, and after that I started getting booked for more projects.
What would you say is one of the most important assets to have in your industry?
Important assets are kindness and reliability. It is important that someone can trust you. But also keeping in contact with people.
In your opinion, what should candidates new to the industry avoid in order to succeed?
People should avoid any sort of negative behavior.
What was your favorite thing about attending Columbia College Hollywood?
My favorite thing about CCH was that it was small, making connections was easy.
Name one thing that made you choose Columbia College Hollywood over other colleges.
I chose CCH because from day one, they are hands-on, and I am a person who learns better while doing the actual motion and not just by hearing things in a lecture.
If you had to do it all over again, what would you do differently?
If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t change anything. I believe that every bad or good decision has led me to the position I’m at right now.

At CCH, we believe it is important to take a stand by demonstrating our willingness to promote and inspire systemic change. We must speak honestly and truthfully to the ugliness of racism that permeates throughout our society today. It may be an uncomfortable conversation for some, but it is an all-too familiar reality for anyone living in this country with black or brown skin. Hiding from it, ignoring it, or being silent about it will not make it go away.
